Sharks Unveil State-of-the-Art Playing Surface Upgrade
Today we are so excited to share some huge news with our community! Last week, we kicked off a massive upgrade to Seymour Shaw with the installation of a brand-new, state-of-the-art synthetic playing surface.
Our new surface will utilise the GreenFields system—the world leader in FIFA-certified pitches. It features the latest synthetic grass technology, a ProPlay Sport shock pad imported from the Netherlands, and an organic infill that keeps the ground cooler and feels just like natural turf. Together, this setup promises outstanding playability, enhanced safety, and a flawless ball bounce and roll, delivering an unparalleled game experience.

The upgrade also includes a completely revamped drainage system, designed for efficient stormwater management and reduced maintenance. Built using largely recycled materials, this environmentally friendly system underscores our commitment to sustainability while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Additionally, the existing playing surface is currently being responsibly removed and recycled at a dedicated facility.

Training and Matches During the Upgrade
While some disruption is unavoidable, our priority is to ensure our current programs continue to run smoothly for our players during the 10-12 week construction process. To achieve this, the club has worked tirelessly to secure high-quality alternate training and matchday facilities for all teams. These facilities have been carefully chosen to minimise inconvenience and provide a seamless experience for players and their families, ensuring that schedules and locations are as accessible and practical as possible.
These arrangements have been made entirely at the club's expense, reflecting our commitment to delivering the best possible experience for our players and their families during this transition.
Crucially, the adjustments to training and match schedules have been developed in close collaboration with our Strength and Conditioning team to ensure their exciting new programs aren’t impacted.
