We Heard You… Sutherland Is Back
It’s been a big week for our club! With the season opener against Sydney United on Saturday, our pitch replacement well underway and the launch of a refreshed brand identity, there’s plenty to be excited about.
We've had such a great response to the new Sharks logo and brand, a big thanks to everyone for their kind emails, comments and in person feedback over the last week. At the same time, the removal of the word Sutherland from our official club name has raised concerns amongst some of our supporters.
As a committee, we are all deeply passionate about the beautiful place we live, the club’s near 100 year history in the area and the strong connection between the two. The original idea behind this change was about simplifying our look and feel and having a fresh start for the club as we look to rebuild our next chapter.
We’re lucky enough to have a devoted fan base and community around the club that cares enough to hold us accountable. We received some fantastic and heartfelt feedback from long-term supporters and the message was very clear. We love the new logo, but please bring Sutherland back to the club name.
Today we are happy to share that the club name is officially back to and will remain Sutherland Sharks FC. We’ll have more updates coming soon, including some exciting projects that honour our club’s rich history and celebrates our connection to the Sutherland Shire community. We won’t get every decision right, but we are listening and genuinely appreciate the feedback.
