Sutherland Sharks Appoint Greg O’Rourke as President
Sutherland Sharks FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Greg O’Rourke as the new Club President. Greg succeeds Allan Edmondson, who will continue his valuable service to the club in the role of Vice President.
Greg has a deep and lifelong connection to football in the Sutherland Shire, beginning his playing career with Heathcote, then playing and coaching with St. John Bosco. In his adult years, Greg played, coached, and served as President at Barden Ridgebacks Football Club. He then went on to become President of the Sutherland Shire Football Association and subsequently Chairman of Football NSW.
As a professional football administrator, Greg held the role as Head of the A-Leagues with Football Australia and later finished his time as Commissioner of the Australian Professional Leagues (APL).
In addition to his extensive football experience, Greg brings over two decades of senior executive leadership in the global FMCG and branded consumer products industries, including roles on PepsiCo’s executive leadership team and currently as Chief Operations Officer of Snackbrands Australia.

We are delighted Greg brings his lifelong passion and vast football administration experience to Sutherland Sharks FC. He is perfectly positioned to lead our nearly 100-year-old club into its next exciting chapter.
Reflecting on his appointment, Greg shared:
“Football is in my DNA, and I’m thrilled to extend my involvement in the game with Sutherland Sharks FC. The current committee has a fantastic vision for this club. Having spent my entire life in the Shire—as a player, coach for both men's and women's teams, referee, and volunteer—the opportunity to be part of something truly special at Sutherland Sharks was incredibly compelling. I am eager to contribute to the club’s continued growth and success. I'd also like to acknowledge and thank those whose dedication and investment over many years have made this club what it is today, particularly long-time President Paul Smith and long-term investors and committee members John Hills and Bruce Lawrence.”
The club also extends sincere thanks to Allan Edmondson for his outstanding service and leadership during his tenure as President. Allan’s ongoing role as Vice President ensures the club will continue to benefit greatly from his experience and commitment.
