Shire families free at Sharks home game
Sutherland Sharks FC will be kicking off their first home game of the 2021 NSW National Premier League season against traditional opponents Marconi Stallions this Saturday, 6 March at Seymour Shaw Park, Miranda.
The Sharks are resuming their place in the NSW National Premier League 1 Men's division, which is the next tier competition, behind the A-League. The Sutherland Sharks has produced many players over the years who have gone on to play in the A-League, professional leagues overseas, and even a number of Socceroos in recent years.
Sutherland and Marconi games traditionally are exciting spectacles and the club want Sutherland Shire families to share in the event by providing free entry this Saturday, if their son or daughter wears their club jersey from their local SSFA soccer, representing a saving of $25.
To further support families, the Sharks has changed the starting time for its home games this season moving their 1st grade kick off to a 3.30pm start on Saturdays.
1st grade Sutherland Sharks coach Nick Dimovski wants to see a big local crowd at Seymour Shaw for the first home game of the season. Dimovski says the players are ready to surprise many people and give the competition a big shake, "The players are excited to be playing at home and we're looking for the X- factor of a large home crowd to be our 12th player. Our players have had a strong pre-season build up and I thought we were unlucky to not secure the 3 points last week."
Indeed, the Shark's 2021 season kicked off last weekend in dramatic fashion, with the Sharks scoring a 96th minute equaliser to draw 2-2 away to Northbridge FC, in a match where the Sharks should have secured the 3 points had they been more clinical with their finishes up front. Nick Petrillo was outstanding at the back for the Sharks and much thrust was provided in attack by the energetic Chris McStay and the Shark's speedster James Andrew.
Dimovski adds "It's great our Club is supporting our first grade with an initiative to provide free entry to Shire families for our first home game. This is an opportunity for boys, girls, mums, dads and extended families to connect with us and follow Sutherland Sharks and see live elite sports for free this weekend, without the hassle of travelling outside the Shire. I know our players would to love to see the Shire come out and support their team."
